Simply Energy charges a connection fee when you open a new account. When moving into a new property, these fees encompass electric and/or gas connections, disconnection fees, and meter reading fees. Depending on your distributor, fees may vary.
Energy providers charge customers connection fees to cover the costs of setting up and connecting their homes and businesses to the energy grid. If you want more information about connection fees or other fees that may apply, you can check Simply Energy’s website or contact them directly.
In Australia, GST is applied to most goods and services, including electricity and gas. GST is added to the price of the goods and services, and the seller is responsible for collecting and remitting it to the government. So, if you are purchasing electricity or gas, the GST will generally be included in your price.
You can typically see the GST component of the price listed separately on your energy bill. Rates on websites will clearly display the rate inclusive or exclusive of the GST component. Typically these are shown as inclusive of GST.
Solar Feed-in tariffs for residential are not subject to GST. Businesses, however, will need to pay GST for their feed-in tariff income.
